Comparison · Ezus Pay and PayPal

Ezus Pay is made for travel agencies. PayPal is made for e-commerce.

With PayPal, you collect a payment. With Ezus Pay, you follow every payment of a trip: the deposit, the balance, the extras added along the way. And each payment goes back to the right Ezus record, without you matching it.

  • Deposit and balance per file
  • Automatic matching in Ezus
  • SEPA transfer at 0,3 %

In short

PayPal is a payment method. Ezus Pay is a tool for managing the payments of a tailor-made trip. Three things set them apart: the split between deposit and balance, the automatic matching in your records, and the SEPA transfer at 0,3 % on large amounts.

Ezus Pay

Ezus Pay is the right fit if…

  • You collect a deposit, then a balance, then sometimes extras.
  • You already work in Ezus and you match your payments by hand.
  • You want to collect large amounts by transfer, at 0,3 % instead of around 1,2 % by card.

PayPal

PayPal is still the right fit if…

  • Your clients insist on paying with their PayPal account. Ezus Pay does not offer it.
  • You sell low-priced products, with no deposit or balance.
  • You do not use Ezus.

The two can live side by side. Many agencies keep PayPal for a few clients and route the payments of their trips through Ezus Pay.

The differences

What really changes day to day

Both solutions take a card. Here is what sets them apart, before and after the payment.

A trip is paid in several instalments

A tailor-made file is rarely settled in one go: the deposit on signature, the balance before departure, sometimes an extra added in between.

With PayPal

You create a payment link for each instalment. The link knows nothing about the file, so you work out the outstanding amount on the side.

With Ezus Pay

You generate the deposit, the balance or a custom amount from the file. Paid and outstanding are shown, service by service.

Every payment finds its file

Finding the right file and the right service often takes longer than collecting the money.

With PayPal

You export a statement, then match by hand between the statement, your spreadsheet and your files.

With Ezus Pay

Each payment arrives already attached to the right file and the right service. The file status updates, and the confirmation email goes out to the traveler and the agency.

SEPA transfer changes everything on large amounts

On a 25 000 € trip, a card costs around 300 € in fees, with Ezus Pay as with PayPal. A bank transfer costs 75 €.

With PayPal

No dedicated rate for bank transfers. A payment made with a PayPal account is charged 2,90 % + 0,35 €.

With Ezus Pay

SEPA transfer is charged 0,3 % + 0,30 €. On a 25 000 € trip, that is 75,30 € instead of 297,80 € by card.

Your questions

Ezus Pay or PayPal

Yes. Ezus Pay does not replace your PayPal account. It is there to collect the payments of your travel files. You can keep PayPal alongside it for the clients who ask for it.

Not directly. You have to create two payment links, then match both payments by hand to know what is left to collect. Ezus Pay creates the instalments from the file and shows paid and outstanding, service by service.

On cards, no: the two rates are very close. Ezus Pay is at 1,19 % + 0,30 € on a European debit card, and PayPal advertises from 1,20 % + 0,35 € on its card payment offer. The gap is elsewhere. A payment made with a PayPal account costs 2,90 % + 0,35 €. And the SEPA transfer, charged 0,3 % + 0,30 € with Ezus Pay, has no equivalent at PayPal.

Because the client pays long before departure. PayPal lists "travel packages" among higher-risk items and says funds are usually held for up to 21 days. Ezus Pay is planned for that model, with daily or weekly payouts.

The page is in your colors, in their language, and shows the summary of their trip. The payment goes through their bank's 3DS authentication. The infrastructure is Stripe's, PCI-DSS certified: no card data passes through you or through us.

Visa, Mastercard and American Express, issued in Europe or elsewhere. The rate depends on the card used: 1,19 % on a European debit card, up to 4,19 % on an American Express issued outside Europe.
